How do I care for vintage clothing?
Unless otherwise stated, all items from Things Vintage CA have been cleaned. Once you receive your garment, it is recommended to steam it to help remove any creases in the fabric due to the storage and/or shipping processes.
Most garments from the 1990s-Y2K can be machine washed. You may refer to the care tag for washing instructions. Older vintage garments should be washed either by hand or dry cleaned. If washing a garment by hand, utilize a wash basin and gentle detergent. Note, some fabrics may not be colorfast and may bleed. Always wash vintage garments in cool water and with like-colors. Items such as lined blazers, dresses, skirts or jackets have a higher probability of not being colorfast. Such items should be dry cleaned. Alternatively, one may spot clean or wash the garment in cool water for a brief duration to avoid color bleed.
To dry any washed garment, it is recommended to utilize the spin dry cycle of the washing machine to remove as much water as possible. Garments such as knit sweaters should be dried flat on a towel or on a horizontal drying rack. Hang dry other items.
